Presented by Exponent Nuclear Power Webinar Series
A panel of Exponent Construction and Engineering professionals will provide a historical overview of construction in the nuclear industry, outline the current nuclear construction market, and explore risks inherent to future nuclear power plant construction. While domestic nuclear construction projects virtually ground to a halt following the Incident at Three Mile Island in 1979, international construction continued, employing new technologies and designs in plants from Europe to Asia. Recent advances will influence the coming wave of domestic projects in profound ways. An examination of recently completed nuclear plants will provide examples of project challenges and issues encountered, the controls and management strategies currently in use, and give rise to issues to consider for domestic construction. These issues provide a starting point from which the panel will explore risks associated with the planning, construction, and closeout phases of new nuclear plant projects.
