Exponent Webinar: Investigating Material Failures Big and Small

Wednesday, June 17, 2009
10:30 AM PDT / 1:30 PM EDT

Things break. Whether a product is made of metal, glass, ceramic, plastic, or it is a composite, nearly all structures are susceptible to fracture, fatigue, or environmental degradation when subjected to the right set of circumstances. From pipelines, to turbine engine components, to medical devices, determining how and why an object failed is a critical component to mitigating future failures, and in some cases, establishing liability.

The focus of this webinar is to provide participants with an overview of the general material failure analysis process, the typical analytical tools used, and what information they can provide. This seminar will include three material failure case studies.

Speakers:

Brad James, Ph.D., P.E.
Principal Engineer, Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science

Eric Guyer, Ph.D., P.E.
Senior Managing Engineer, Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science
